1. Ann1 Forbes aka Green, born 1771 in Southwark, Surrey England ; died 1851 in Lower Portland Head, Hawkesbury River, NSW Australia; daughter of John Forbes and Hannah Harris. She bore a child to George Bannister (Convict - First Fleet), born 1768 in London England; died 1854 in NSW; She married (1) on 15 Nov 1791 on Norfolk Island - William Dring (Convict - Alexander), born 1767 in York England.  Possible parents: Luke Dring and Sarah  (2) 1797c in  NSW - Thomas Huxley(aka Oxley, Uxley, Jones), born 1769 in Middlesex England; died 4 Jul 1854 in  Richmond Bottoms NSW.

Notes for Ann Forbes (aka Green)

Ann was sentenced at Surrey in 1787 for theft of material, along with Lydia Munro. She was sentenced to death which was commuted to transportation for 7 years. Ann arrived in 1788 on Prince of Wales. She bore a child (Sarah) to George Bannister in 1789. George had been convicted at Middlesex for theft and arrived in Sydney with the First Fleet.

Ann was sent to Norfolk Island on the Sirius in 1790, where she married convict William Dring.

Text: Ann was tried at the Surrey Lent Assizes which began at Kingston upon Thames on Monday 2 Apr 1787 before Sir Henry Gould Knt. and Sir Alexander Thomson Knt. She was tried on Thursday morning 5 Apr 1787. Ann and Lydia Munro were committed 30 Oct 1787 on the charge that Ann Forbes, late of the Parish of Saint Olave within the borough of Southwark in the county of Surrey a spinster and Lydia Munro late of the same place...on the 28th day of October...ten yards of printed Cotton of the value of 20s. of the goods and chattels of James Rollinson. Found guilty, no chattels and sentenced to be hanged. Reprieved to transportation for seven years, sent 30 Apr 1787.
