Esther was born around 1769 in London. She was convicted of theft at the Old Bailey in 1786. She arrived on the Lady Penrhyn, accompanied by her daughter Rosanna Esther who was born in 1787. Esther's occupation was milliner. Esther died at Georges Hall, NSW, in 1846. Esther married George Johnston in 1814 at Parramatta. George was in the Royal Marines and also arrived on the Lady Penrhyn.
Rosanna married Isaac Nicholls in 1805 in Sydney. Isaac was born 1770 Wiltshire and died 1819 Sydney. He arrived as a convict on Barrington. He became one of the colony's wealthiest emancipists, holding 780 acres of land by grant and purchase. He owned horses, cattle, sheep and pigs.
