Notes for Catherine Leahy (Lahy)
Catherine was convicted at Waterford City in July 1832, of
receiving and was sentenced to 7 years transportation. She arrived
in Sydney on the Surrey, in 1833. Catherine's cousin Robert Lahy
arrived in Australian in 1832 on the Norfolk. He became a bushranger
and was caught and convicted and sent to Norfolk Island and then
Tasmania. Catherine was described as 5 feet 1 inch tall, fair and
freckled, she could not read or write. Occupation: housemaid.
