THEFT OF SWANS.
James Whalan waa charged at the Water Police Court on Saturday with stealing a basket containing two swans, valued at 9s, the property of Martin Lutherborrow. The accused was lined £2, with an alternative of 21 days' imprisonment.

LITHGOW -The death occurred in Lithgow Hospital of Mr Walter James Whalan at the age of 66. He was a native of the Tarana district, and lived there practically all his life. A grown-up family survives him
