FATALITY AT SUB-STATION.
When Mr T. Bailey, district foreman of tho Newcastle City Council's Electric Light Supply Department, went to the Broadmeadow nub-station shortly afternoon on Sunday, he was horrified to find the dead body of William George Priest, electrician, lying on a mat in front of a 2200-volt switchboard. There were electric burns on both hands. Mr Priest was engaged earlier in the day in cutting out operations at the sub-station; as work was being done on a line outside. He went to the sub station at 8 o'clock. When he had finished, he notified the district fore man at Sydney-street, and said he would remain at the sub-station to do some clearing-up. . The deceased, who was married, lived in Adamstown. .An examination of the sub-station was subsequently made by officers of the electricity department of the council ,but it is understood that nothing was revealed. to show exactly how the accident happened.
