CHARLES EATHER'S APPEAL FAILS.
An appeal by Charles Edward Barwon Eather against his conviction before Judge Hamilton at Darlinghurst, of a charge of assaulting a girl under 16 years of age, was disposed of in the Criminal Appeal Court this morning. The Bench was occupied by Sir William Cullen, Mr Justice Pring and Mr Justice Gordon.
The prisoner had been sentenced to 15 months hard labor on the charge, and he appealed on the ground that there was no corroboration of the girl's story, such as required by Section 418 of the Crimes Act. The Court held that there was corroboration and dismissed the appeal. An order was made that the sentence should run from the time of the conviction.
